CARE International Japan restarts under the new National Director

Having assumed a post as National Director in January 2017, I would like to express my gratitude for your understanding and cooperation to our organization and convey my thoughts to you.

When I first heard the story I was stunned by the fact that CARE International had delivered material aid to more than ten million Japanese people after World War II. At that time, CARE had delivered more goods than any other NGOs and had continued the operation for 8 years. This is one of the examples of generosity Japanese people had received and a process of reconstruction after the war, but none around me knew what the organization had done for Japan. Things are recognized only after people are ready to accept. This surprising fact was the first thing I learned about the organization and I believe that getting to know CARE International Japan was my destiny.

It takes not only words but also action to return the courtesy to the world. Our organization is aiming to gain publicity to increase supporters in Japan and boost the cooperation with our staff and offices outside of Japan to strengthen our global network. In addition, I would like to revisit reasons our supports had chosen our organization and remember that our mission is to deliver our supporters' warm thoughts to those who need them. I believe that happiness can be spread all over the world by transforming care and sincerity, which people naturally have, to humble supporting activities on the worldwide scale. This is what I would call happiness contagion.

Over the last 20 years, I have worked in a few multinational companies with people from different countries and cultures who speak different languages and are in different positions. I cannot thank each of them enough for bringing me where I am and making me who I am. I deeply remember that people I have encountered have brought me great joy and pleasure, and my job, from now on, is to return the courtesy to people in the world without forgetting the spirit of "otagai sama". People would smile when they felt the joy of living. I believe that putting smile on people's face is worth working for the rest of my life. It would be my great pleasure if CARE, trying to achieve goals, can help everyone, all of our supporters, people in our donor countries and anyone who are involved in our activities, have smile on their faces with "care".

Our organization is going to celebrate our 30th anniversary in coming May. In this memorable year, I am very happy to be able to share the joy and small but strong fortunate changes in the universe with all of you. For years to come, CARE is going to continue to focus on empowering women and girls and fighting against poverty. We would like your continuous cooperation and kindness.
