CARE International Japan is a member of the global CARE Confederation of 18 member and 2 candidate and 1 affiliate organizations working together to end poverty.
CARE has been committed to helping the world’s most vulnerable people since the first CARE packages were sent to the survivors of World War II in 1945. CARE packages also reached Japan, and about 10 million Japanese people received support.
For over 75 years, CARE has led the way to save lives, defeat poverty and achieve social justice. In 2020, CARE worked in over 100 countries, reaching more than 90 million people through 1,300 projects.
CARE International Japan supports women and girls to provide assistance to the world’s most vulnerable people. We work with local communities to provide women with equal opportunities to earn an income, gain access to their fair share of resources, participate in decisions that affect their lives, and lead their communities through the increasing impacts of climate disasters and other crises.
This year, 2022, CARE International Japan commemorates its 35th anniversary since its founding in 1987. In the spirit of appreciation for the support our parents and grandparents generation received, we strive to support developing countries to solve social issues and achieve economic development, by leveraging Japan’s own experience of economic development.
