大成建設株式会社ほか、鹿島建設および新日本製鐵（現、日本製鉄）JOにより円借款事業としてベトナムで建設されたカントー橋。大規模な建設現場での労働者へのHIV感染拡大がもたらす、労働力・生産性の低下や市場の縮小・不安定化などのリスクマネージメントの観点から、2006年から2年間にわたり、カントー橋建設にかかるHIV/AIDS等感染防止事業を通じて、HIV感染予防プログラムを提供しました。またフェーズⅡへの支援もいただき、活動地域を建設現場周辺からその他地域にまで拡大して、労働者ほか、歓楽施設経営者、HIV陽性者に加え、地域住民や学生も含む人々を対象とした地域におけるHIV予防および偏見・差別の軽減事業を実施しました。2008年以降は、法人会員としても継続したご支援を頂いています。

Avoiding Risks in Overseas Projects through Partnership with International NGO

The Can Tho Bridge was built in Vietnam through a yen loan project under the joint operation of Taisei Corporation, Kajima Corporation and Nippon Steel Corporation. In order to manage the risks of the spread of HIV among workers of large-scale construction sites triggering a decline in the labor force and productivity as well as the contraction and instability of the market, a program to prevent HIV infection had been provided through the HIV/AIDS Prevention Program for the Can Tho Bridge Construction Project (Bridge to Health Project) for two years since 2006. Taisei Corporation also provided support for Phase II of the program, which enabled its scope of activities to be expanded from construction sites and its environs to other areas, leading to the implementation of the HIV Prevention and Stigma & Discrimination Deduction in Community Program, which covers local residents, students and other people in addition to construction workers, entertainment business operators, and HIV-positive patients. Since 2008, Taisei Corporation has been providing ongoing support as a corporate member.
