Eight years ago, at the age of 66, I ran my first full marathon and became addicted. Since then, I have run a full marathon about twice a year and a 30-kilometer marathon or half marathon every month.
Thanks to this, I don't feel any decline in my physical strength at all, and I have more running buddies, regardless of age and sex. When I think back to my high school days when I had to take a leave of absence due to illness, I am thankful that I am healthy enough to run a full marathon at the age of 74.
Running a marathon is fun in itself, but I am even more motivated to run when I think it benefits someone else. There are times when I have a hard time running, but when I do, I think about the women and children of refugees and developing countries who have been living in more difficult conditions for a long time, and it inspires me to do more.
Why don't you join Tokyo Marathon 2023 Charity and make a difference in your life?

Women and girls are not treated equally in various opportunities such as education, employment and marriage.
In an unequal system and environment, it is not easy to escape from poverty.
That when women have the opportunity to access and control basic health and education services, household finances and income, they have the power to improve their lives, the lives of their families, and the community as a whole.
With women and girls at the center of our activities, we aim to create a society in which they can fulfill their potential and become economically and socially independent.
Your donation through Tokyo Marathon 2023 Charity will be used to support CARE International Japan's activities to promote gender equality and reduce poverty.
